Wikileaks on Somaliland Recognition Strategy:

The  following are excerpts  discusiing new Somalidiid recognition strategy:
the e-mails, the minister clearly states that he has been in contact with TFG members.

The e-mails also indicate that the Somaliland Foreign Minister, Dr. Mohamed Abdillahi Omar had, allegedly,  been withholding information from Somaliland’s parliament during the time he had been called to answer questions regarding Somaliland’s foreign policy.

It is clear, in our opinion, that the Somaliland Foreign Minister has allegedly embarked on an dangerous adventure which is detrimental to Somaliland’s  sovereignty, integrity and security.

The following are excerpts from these e-mails.

Dear Eng. Balayah,
I am in contact with the TFG and I agree with you that it is much easier to negotiate with the current weak TFG.Thanks.

Dear Dr. Mo,
I am writing my opinion that could look a bit contraversial at this time but I believe now is the right time to brain storm this issue about the recognition directly dealing with the TFG. It is much easier to negotiate with a weak entity than a strong entity. I believe Sh. Sherif and co. are very weak now and are on the edge, meaning, have only six months to go. In addition to that, he and his team have no political future in future Somalia; therefore they would do anything possible to grab some money in exchanging of any deals. Do you believe they grabed only $5M USD from a UAE company and signed for them a contract to takeover Mogadishu Airport and manage it completely. We need forge a deal with them and make them sign recognition before they leave the office; the west gave money to General Bashir to let South Sudan go. UK & USA can make him sign our recognition.
The key is how to do that sensitive brokership & who is the best broker??? I suggest to seek advise with the British and Ethiopia plus a bit of the UN/IGAD because they know very well the future of these individuals.
Do have in mind ways to forge this deal before August 2010? Please make this discussion is top secret til we come up some kind of solution.
Please write back or let me know if you have Africa online telephone (it is the american lines usually people have in Hargeisa) and I could discuss with you a bit longer.
Just now I heard a sad story, the sudden death of prof. Ibrahim Meygaag Samatar. Somaliland lost another great guy; Inna-llillaah wa inna illeyhi rajucuu.!!!

Please reply.

With best regards,
